Two kinds of glass dominate showcase construction: tempered and laminated. Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than ordinary glass and breaks into blunt granules, which is why we use it for deck panels and doors that open daily. Laminated glass sandwiches a PVB film between two panes: if it breaks, the film holds the fragments and the case stays closed — the property security argument.
Our default rule: tempered ultra-clear glass wherever hands and customers touch, laminated glass wherever irreplaceable high-value pieces sit, and laminated UV-filtering glass for museums. Cost difference is typically 15–25% on the glass package — small against the value of what is inside.
